Shower filter replacement cartridge: time to swap?

This is the cartridge for the aluminium MDC 7-Stage Shower Filter, sold before as the Shower Filter. You keep the housing on your shower and swap only the cartridge, not the whole filter.

When to change it

When you fit a cartridge, note the date. The stated life is about 4 months for 1 to 2 people and about 3 months for 3 to 4 people, sooner if your water is harder or use is heavy.

That works out at about 3 to 4 cartridges a year, depending on use and water quality. Order your next one on this page before those 3 or 4 months are up.

How to swap it

Twist the old cartridge off and twist the new one on.

Is this the right part?

  • Yes, if you own the MDC 7-Stage Shower Filter.
  • No, if you own the KDF & Carbon or the Vitamin C & Aroma Shower Filter. Those are complete units with no cartridge, and you replace them whole.
