7-stage shower filter: keep your shower head, swap the cartridge

You picked that shower head. You should not have to give it up to filter your water. The MDC 7-Stage Shower Filter has 7 stages in an aluminium housing, and it screws on between your wall outlet or shower arm and your hose or shower head.

What one owner noticed

"Skin felt cleaner and hair softer with more shine." MDC Water customer review.

A shower filter is not a treatment for eczema or any skin condition.

Will it fit your shower?

It works with most standard fittings, and with wall-mounted, handheld and rain-style shower heads. To fit it:

  1. Take the hose or shower head off.
  2. Screw the filter on and tighten to stop leaks.
  3. Put your hose or shower head back on.

What keeping it going looks like

The housing stays where it is. When the cartridge is due, twist the old one off and twist the new one on. It takes the MDC Shower Filter Replacement Cartridge.

Our stated cartridge life is about 4 months for 1 to 2 people and about 3 months for 3 to 4 people, sooner if your water is harder or use is heavy. That is about 3 to 4 cartridges a year, depending on use and water quality.

7-Stage or KDF & Carbon?

Two filters, two ways to keep going. Pick the one that matches how you want to look after it.

  • Choose the 7-Stage if you want to keep one housing and swap a cartridge.
  • Choose the KDF & Carbon Shower Filter if you would rather replace one complete unit whole, with KDF-55 and granular activated carbon and no cartridge to order.

At a glance

  • Stages: 7
  • Housing: aluminium
  • Takes: MDC Shower Filter Replacement Cartridge
  • Stated cartridge life: about 3 to 4 months, sooner if your water is harder or use is heavy

    Easy to install.

Blends in nicely with brushed stainless tapware. Water feels softer immediately.
